About us

The PLG holds regular roundtables, addressing a wide range of topics related to the Ultra-Processed Food. This includes subject matter experts from the world of health, food and science, special interest groups and parliamentarians creating the space necessary to be a catalyst for policy reform and regulation of Ultra-Processed Food.

With the growing obesity crisis, especially in children there is a growing need for comprehensive policy reform and regulation of UPF. The Group’s roundtables serve and act as a venue for the important discussions of how to manage the ticking health time bomb and con that is Ultra-Processed Food.

The PLG aims to achieve the following:

  • Demonstrate the fundamental role of “The Con that is Ultra-Processed Food” and its impact on health outcomes and childhood obesity.
  • Support the development and implementation of effective policies and practices for the UK to become “best in class” in its regulation of UPF.
  • Look to calling on the Government to implement marketing restrictions on UPF products.
  • Be a vehicle for change for clear delineation between those that produce and market UPF and those who regulate.
  • Highlight the challenges consumers face with their current food choices
